Terms of use

This website is run by Sheffield Hallam Islamic Society, a student society at Sheffield Hallam University (“Hallam ISOC”, “we”, “us”, or “our”). These Terms of Use (“Terms”) govern your use of the site. Some features may have extra guidelines posted on the site, which form part of these Terms.

By using the site you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use it.

We give you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to use the site for your own personal, non-commercial purposes. You may not:

• sell, rent, lease, or commercially exploit the site or its content;
• modify, reverse-engineer, or create derivative works from any part of the site;
• copy, republish, or distribute the site or its content except as these Terms allow; or
• interfere with the site, or attempt to gain unauthorised access to it or its systems.

We may change, suspend, or stop the site, or any part of it, at any time. We do not promise to provide support for it.

The site and its content, including text, design, logos, and photographs, belong to Hallam ISOC or our licensors and are protected by copyright and other intellectual property rights. These Terms do not transfer any ownership to you. All rights not expressly granted are reserved.

If you send us feedback or suggestions about the site, you agree we may use them freely and without payment or credit. Please do not send anything you consider confidential.

How we handle personal information is explained in our Privacy notice, and how the site uses cookies and similar technologies in our Cookie notice. If these Terms conflict with the Privacy notice on how we use personal information, the Privacy notice applies.

The site links to and shows information from third parties, such as Sheffield Hallam Students' Union, Google Forms, social platforms, and Sheffield Masjids, which supplies public prayer-time data. We do not control those services and are not responsible for them. Their own terms and privacy notices apply when you use them.

Prayer times, Jummah details, and event information are provided for convenience and can change. Please confirm with the mosque or the event organiser when it matters.

The site is free and is provided “as is” and “as available”. To the fullest extent the law allows, we do not promise that it will be uninterrupted, error-free, or secure, and we exclude all warranties and conditions not set out in these Terms.

To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for any loss or damage arising from your use of, or inability to use, the site, including indirect or consequential loss. Nothing in these Terms limits or excludes liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or for anything else that cannot be limited or excluded by law. If you are a consumer, these Terms do not affect your statutory rights.

We may restrict or block access to the site at any time, including if we believe you have broken these Terms or misused the site.

We aim to make the site accessible to everyone, including people with disabilities, and to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA. If you have difficulty using any part of it, or ideas to improve it, email sheffhallamisoc@gmail.com and we will make reasonable efforts to help.

We may update these Terms from time to time. The latest version and effective date will remain on this page, and using the site after a change means you accept the updated Terms.

These Terms are the entire agreement between you and us about your use of the site. If a provision is found to be unenforceable, the rest continues to apply, and our failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver of it. You may not transfer your rights under these Terms. You agree we may contact you electronically about the site.

These Terms, and any dispute arising from them or the site, are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction, except that if you are a consumer living elsewhere in the United Kingdom you may also bring a claim in the courts where you live.
